About

This website is not about happy with a "y".

It is about happi with an "i".

"Happi with an i" signals that something advances the cause of "happiERISM" also known as "happiISM".

HappiISM is the notion that government's greatest good is to minimize "unhappierness".

"Unhappierness" is government-induced unhappiness
(aside from our own private mix of happiness and unhappiness).

So "happi with an i" signals that something minimizes unhappierness, especially of the MOO (The Minority-Of-One).

This is what "happi"money, "happi"ocracy, "happi"opia, "happi"nomics and many other "happi with an 'i'" words are about.

Here is the rationale.

Absent government, we all enjoy, or endure, our own, private mix of happiness and unhappiness in the absolute.

This private mix is just that. It is private. It is about relationships, memories, and other matters that are hardly government's business.

When government enters the picture, it augments this private mix .  It makes us "happier than otherwise" or "unhappier than otherwise".

"Happier than otherwise" is called happiERness.

"UNhappier than otherwise" is called UNhappierness.

Put differently:

"Happierness" is government-induced happiness.

"Unhappierness" is "government-induced unhappiness"

This website is much about these two states.

Jeremy Bentham thought that government's greatest good is the greatest happiness of the greatest number.

I propose a slight modification, so that it reads as follows:

"Government's greatest good is not the greatest happiness of the greatest number but the least "UNhappierness" of the greatest number, especially of the MOO - the Minority-Of-One, also known as the Microeconomy-Of-One.

To the extent that government succeeds in minimizing unhappierness, those affected become "happier than otherwise". Hence this philosophy is labelled "happi"erism" or "happi"ism . This is the philosophy underlying "happi"ocracy, "happi"opia, "happi"money and all the other "happi" words that you will come across in this website.
